Let us make no mistake, gaining momentum and scoring high figures in times of economical crisis is no little feat, especially for southern Italian regions.
And the Apulian successful airport system is there to prove this true.
Take this year’s first quarter figures for Bari, Brindisi and Foggia airports, for instance: general results show a total of 1,603,226 passengers leaving and landing in Puglia between January and April 2011, which means a 23,7% increase over last year’s same-period numbers. The Brindisi-Salento airport is the best performer also this year, and quite so considering its 41,7% increase over 2010.
In terms of aircraft traffic there has been a 22% growth in 2011 compared with 2010. The Bari-Karol Wojtyla hub scored a total of 1,058,339 passengers, showing a 16,8% growth if compared to 2010 figures, with particular regard to international passengers.
