The "light waves" by Carlo Bernardini visible to the public.
In the wake of the happy experience already realized for Karol Wojtyla Airport of Bari, related to <<Orizzonte>> by Stephen Antonakos, at the conclusion of the works that have radically transformed the passenger airport of Brindisi, Apulia Aiports Spa had wanted to enhance and enrich the same with the installation of permanent work art . The choice fell on "Light Waves" - Light waves - work carried out by the visual of Carlo Bernardini who now shines into the checkin of Brindisi Airport.
"Light Waves" is a project of light audiovisual and three-dimensional, which incorporates the environment within dell'aerostazione, developed as a visual and born with the idea of generating a drive impalpable of the total space by changing the perception of the place . Light Waves is basa on four prisms in laminated glass and fiber optics, developed in space from sky to earth, and a slide show with sound environmental sea addressed on the floor behind them for the entire length. In the process conceptual work, created precisely to as environmental installation of towers prismatic light, incorporates the two pillars architectural present in behind the wall concerned, also processed in prisms based pentagonal scalena with a visual fiber optics and a skin of laminated glass.
The large video projection depicting the shattered abstract waves of the sea with their sound effect, reproduced on the lower end of glass prisms and on the surface of the floor - consists of a series of stone slabs juxtaposed Lecce which call to land -- transforms the space where are the prisms, visually creating a sort of floating the same as an illusory sense, which contributes even the sound of big waves. The prisms glass and fiber optics create a set of lines and points of light scattered in the internal structures that interact with each other to compete as catalysts of light itself, key visual language.
"The body audiovisual" manifesting in an environment like the one already set inside the aiport, creates a sort of crystallized space through the slight transparencies waves of the sea, a video hit the ground and on the glass prisms with their architectural structures of light in fibre optics, while the sound waves emitted by amplifiers spherical to 360° 360° placed prior the video. The technology evolution of fibre optics contributes to new and improved methods of aesthetic and functional use of the area in question, in order to converse in a harmonious and non-invasive with the context. The transparency of images of waves on water sculptures, and that of prismatic forms themselves on a video projection, determines a sort of impalpable signal of the place.
Carlo BERNARDINI was born in Viterbo in 1966. He lives and works in Rome and Milan. He graduated in 1987 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. In 1997 he published a theoretical essay on "Division of visual" published by Alternative Press. He won for 2 times in 2000 and 2005 the "Overseas Grantee" of Pollock Krasner Foundation in New York, and in 2002 the premium Targetti Light Art Collection "White Sculpture." Multimedia installations currently teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts "Brera" in Milan. The attention of Charles Bernardini is aimed at dialectical relationship between the line and monochrome, such moments of diversified design raffigurativa space-light.
The meticulous path of abstraction is a gradual research on the line to win the essence, almost a wish to draw the invisible.
His research focuses today on the visual concept of perceptual processing of space through works stretched between sculptural dimension and installativa. The environmental installations, made with fibre optics and electro-luminescent surfaces create an area of light architectural mental incorporeo but visible, which totally change the function and structure of the real. The light creates a drawing in space, a design that changes according to points of view and the second movement of the viewer, who is living in the work.
He made permanent public sculptures in stainless steel and fiber optics in several Italian cities, in 2003 the great sculptures made temporarily in Rome in Piazza del Campidoglio for the Office of the Italian presidency in the European Union, large facilities environmental fibre optic outdoors as a Reggio Emilia to Cloisters of St. Dominic at the exhibition "2000 Years Light", Padova via River at the corner of the Palazzo della Ragione "Agreements of Light" and in Ancona in Piazza Cavour for "Lights of Ancona."
