The airlines ticket
Represents proof of the conclusion of a contract for transport. The latter is governed by general legislation as well as by the General Conditions of Transport (GCT) that the passenger has the right to consult in travel agencies, airline company offices and at airport airline desks. An extract from the GCT is included in the ticket generally under the wording of "Conditions of contract".
FLIGHT RESERVATIONS
Where they can be made:
- in travel agencies
- in airline company agencies or offices
- by telephoning the airline or travel agency
- via Internet, where individual airlines provide this service
The passenger has the right to receive information from the airline or its representative concerning the:
- airline company that effectively provides the service
- type of aircraft
- flight timetables and fares with their relative conditions
- assistance procedures for passengers with reduced mobility or unaccompanied children
- communication of "P.N.R" (Passenger Name Record)
If booking at a travel agency the passenger can request to see the computerised reservation system display (CRS) in order to take note of all the companies that operate the desired route, either directly or with an intermediate stop, as well as all the fares applied by them with their relative conditions.
The booking becomes final only when the ticket is issued.
The contract for transport is executed with the PURCHASE OF A TICKET. The purchase has to be done within the terms specified upon booking.
The passenger is entitled to be informed by the airline or its representative of the rules that govern transport. In the event of purchasing an electronic ticket (electronic purchasing system payable by credit card, where a normal ticket is not issued and a boarding card is collected just before boarding the aircraft) the passenger is entitled to receive from the airline an "Itinerary Receipt" on which passenger and flight details are specified, together with the same information supplied on a traditional airline ticket.
