DELAYED DEPARTURE AND CANCELLATION OF FLIGHT

The passenger shall receive information from the airline or its representative or through the person providing passenger assistance, on the delay and its causes as soon as involved organisations are themselves informed of the same and in any case within the expected boarding time. Subsequently, information shall be provided at least every half hour. In the event of cancellation of the flight the passenger has the right to request the rescission of the contract and therefore obtain reimbursement for the unused part of the ticket, excepting further actions for damages if the cancellation of the flight is due to fault of the airline. Alternatively, the passenger is entitled to be re-routed by aircraft to his/her final destination, also using flights operated by other carriers, even at a later date but however not beyond the validity of the ticket. The passenger may take advantage of this opportunity but the airline must, in any case, assist him/her in order to reduce the inconvenience suffered to a minimum. If the reason for the delay is attributable to the airline, also for accommodating passengers from cancelled flights, the passenger has the right to: - the expenses for a telephone call or telex/fax message to the point of destination - meals and refreshments in a reasonable relation to the waiting time - hotel accommodation
