It is of the utmost importance that you check which kind of IDs your destination Country requires, as well as medical documentation, otherwise you may risk to be rejected at local customs.
You must have a valid ID (no older than 5 years) on you to be shown to destination Customs authorities.
The following Countries allow free circulation within their borders: Italy - Austria - Belgium – France - Germany - Luxembourg - Nederland - Portugal - Spain - Denmark - Finland - Iceland - Norway - Sweden - Greece.
Other EU Countries require you have a valid ID card to enter (but not the Italian driving license).
Identity cards are also accepted in Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey, however only if you fly with a Tour Operator.
Your passport (with proper Italian stamp) allow you to travel all over the world.

Up to 10 years of age: no photo, registration on parent’s passport.
From 10 to 16 years: registration on parent’s passport, with photo.
Countries not requiring a passport:
Up to 16 years of age: birth certificate with photo issued by the Birth Registry of local city administration and sealed by passport authority.
In any case, from16 years of age on, a personal ID is always required.
The Italian driving license is not a valid ID for foreign Countries, and is not accepted abroad as a valid ID.
